SPEAKING & MEDIA

There is the story of what happened.

And then there is the story of what we had to become to survive it.

Some forms of survival are easy to recognise. Others become so deeply woven into who we are that, eventually, we mistake them for who we have always been.

The perfectionism. The independence. The relentless capacity to keep going. The instinct to care for everyone else while quietly disappearing from our own lives.

Through podcasts, interviews and speaking engagements, I explore what lives beneath these patterns - not simply how we survive what happens to us, but how survival continues to shape us long after the danger has passed. And, perhaps more importantly, what becomes possible when the ways we once needed to survive are no longer the only ways we know how to live.

These conversations are informed by lived experience, a background in psychology and counselling, and the work that has grown through Light Within Collective. They move through trauma, recovery, mental health, grief and the nervous system, but their deepest concern is something more universal: how human beings adapt to what they have endured, what those adaptations ask of us over time, and how we begin to loosen our grip on ways of being that once kept us safe.

I don't speak about recovery from the other side of it. I speak from within it.

From the complicated, unfinished space between surviving and living - where healing and struggle are not opposites, where becoming well does not require pretending we no longer hurt, and where a meaningful life can begin taking shape before we feel entirely ready for it.
